形態特徵

• Perennial, subloosely tufted with short woody rhizome. Culms 60-100 cm tall, 2-5 mm thick, subterete, remotely 2-4-nodose below inflorescence.
• Leaves many, mostly radical, 2-4 upper on culm; basal leaves with dark purple or dark sanguineous-purple sheaths 3-5 cm long, blades elongated, stiff, scabrous- margined, 2-7 mm wide, gradually narrowed above to a subulate apex; cauline leaves 2-4, remote, equalling or slightly overtopping inflorescence, sheaths reddish brown, 1.5-3 cm long, more or less inflated.
• Inflorescence a narrow panicle, decompound, 20-40 cm long, with 4-10 distant fascicles of partial panicles; leafy bracts with red-brown sheaths, lowest one with a blade nearly equalling inflorescence, blades gradually shorter upwards. Panicle branches 2-4-nate, occasionally single, exserted. Spikelets lanceolate-oblong, 7-14 mm long, 2.5 mm wide, weakly laterally flattened, brown, shortpeduncled, with 8-10 glumes, 3-8 flowers.
• Glumes 2-ranked, ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate-oblong, 5-7 mm long, chartaceous, glabrous, brown with pale margins, yellowish green acute keel ending in a mucro, or in upper glume ending below more or less truncate or emarginate apex, lower 2 or 3 glumes empty, shorter than upper flower-bearing. Achene broadly elliptic or obovate, trigonous, 1-1.3 mm long, sides rusty brown, reticulate, hirsute at apex with white appressed hairs; style 3-4 mm long; stigmas 3.

• 台灣 : Wet places as river banks and forest floors.
• 世界 : The southern Ryukyus, Indochina, Malesia, northern Australia, Solomon Islands.
